Frits Bolkestein, politician and author
Frits Bolkestein manages a one-person think tank in Amsterdam, where he is a critical follower of national politics, and provides inspiration for international politics by lecturing about democracy and liberalism, among other things.

Adriaan van Dis, author, documentary maker, cultural bridge-builder and, in his spare time, a European.

Louise O. Fresco, distinguished professor at the University of Amsterdam
Louise Fresco writes columns for the Dutch newspaper NRC/Handelsblad and is the author of numerous novels and non-fiction books.

Ernst Hirsch Ballin, professor of Human Rights at the University of Amsterdam, and Dutch and European constitutional law at Tilburg University, Ernst Hirsch Ballin became a professor at the faculty of Law of the University of Tilburg in 1981. As a member of the Dutch Lower and Upper House, the Council of State and as a minister in three governments, he has experienced Dutch politics in many different ways. He now publishes and lectures on questions of law and policy.

Fik Meijer, professor emeritus of Ancient History at the University of Amsterdam, and author, after his retirement, is devoting himself to introducing classical antiquity to a large audience. He publishes on Greco-Roman culture, gives lectures, and provides guided tours in countries bordering on the Mediterranean.

Ineke Sluiter, professor of Greek language and literature at the University of Leyden
Ineke Sluiter (who completed her PhD at the Free University in Amsterdam, 1990) was a researcher at the Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies and the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, among other things. She was appointed Associate Professor in Classics at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997, and professor of Greek in Leyden in 1998. For eleven years she was Academic Director of the national school of research of the classicists, OIKOS. In 2010 she won the Spinoza Award. She is a member of the Royal Dutch Society of Sciences, the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences and the Academia Europaea.

Short Synopsis
‘Orestes Son of Blood’ tells the story of Nowan, the son of a king who is brought up as a young goatherd in a desolate land where the law of the fittest reigns. This barbaric law is subordinate only to one other: Blood for Blood. And that is why it is Nowan’s duty to take revenge on his father’s murderer. He swears he will repay evil with evil. But when Nowan finds out that it was his mother who killed his father, he decides to put this law aside. His defiance will not go unpunished…

  • EEN ECHTE VERMEER (A REAL VERMEER), the new film by Dutch director Rudolf van den Berg will be released in Dutch theatres on 3 November 2016. The film tells the story of world-famous art forger Han van Meegeren who, before WW II, fooled the art world with his forgeries of Vermeer and other Dutch Masters.
